Lia Swope Mitchell is a writer and translator from Minneapolis, with a PhD in French from the University of Minnesota. She defended her dissertation, “Imagining Bodies: Technological Visions of Displaced Minds in French Speculative Fiction,” in May 2019. Lia’s fiction has appeared in magazines such as Asimov’s, Apex, Shimmer, Terraform, and Cosmos, among other places. Her translation of Georges Didi-Huberman’s Survival of the Fireflies was released as part of the Univocal series at the University of Minnesota Press in September 2018. Her translation of Antoine Volodine’s post-exotic novel Solo Viola will be available from the University of Minnesota Press in May of 2021.
